This article shows you how to add and manage an Instagram Hashtag feed for your Social Wall. To connect Instagram Hashtags to contentfry, you'll need Advanced Instagram Connections, which are available with a Professional Instagram Account.

How to add an Instagram Hashtag to your Social Wall

The Connection Instagram Hashtag will collect content posted with a certain Hashtag.

1. To get started, click on the Instagram icon located in the Connections panel on the right-hand side of the contentfry Dashboard.

2. Once the popup window opens, click on 'Advanced'.

If this is your first time setting up an Instagram connection on contentfry, please connect with your Facebook Profile. If you need guidance, you can follow the steps outlined in the "Adding Advanced Instagram Connections" article.

3. In the new popup window, click on 'Hashtag' in the top tabs, then choose the Instagram Business Account you want to use from the drop-down menu

4. Next, enter the Hashtag you want to connect into the designated field on the right-hand side. You can learn about some hashtag limitations here.

5. Decide whether you want to display "Recent Media" or "Top Media".

  • If you want to gather all content containing your hashtag, select Recent Media.

  • Alternatively, if you're using a highly popular hashtag that generates a lot of irrelevant content, consider choosing Top Media. In this case, contentfry will only collect content that appears in Instagram's Top Media section.

6. Select your desired Moderation settings, then click on the 'create' button to set up your Hashtag Connection.

  • Moderation OFF: Your content will not appear on your Social Wall until you approve it (recommended for Hashtag Connections).

  • Moderation ON: Your content will directly appear on your Social Wall.

7. Congratulations, you've successfully set up your Hashtag Connection! Please familiarize yourself with some Instagram Hashtag Limitations in the following section.

Instagram Hashtags Limitations

1. Due to increased data protection requirements, Instagram no longer provides the profile picture and username for Hashtag Connections. Contents collected via an Instagram Hashtag will display the media (picture or video), text field, and date.

2. Instagram only allows a maximum of 30 hashtags to be queried per week per Business account. You can only add a maximum of 30 unique hashtags on behalf of any Instagram Business account within a rolling 7-day period.

The 30 hashtag searches are per Business Account, not per application using that Account. In practice, connecting a hashtag on a service like Hootsuite will count against the 30 even on contentfry.

3. You cannot connect a hashtag to contentfry if it has not been used on Instagram before. To create a Connection for a brand-new hashtag, simply publish a dummy post on Instagram before proceeding.

4. When adding a new Instagram hashtag Connection to your social wall, contentfry will fetch public Instagram posts published with this hashtag dating back to the past 24 hours. After the Hashtag Connection has been established on contentfry, there will be a continuous feed for the new hashtags.
