Interested in showcasing content from your own Instagram profile, a partner brand, influencer, or creator you collaborate with on your social wall? With contentfry, you have four distinct options for creating a content feed from a profile. This article will guide you in selecting the most suitable connection for your needs.

Your first consideration is whether you want to connect your own Instagram profile or that of an external person or brand.

An Instagram Profile Owned by You

These are Instagram Accounts for which you or a member of your Team on contentfry possesses the login credentials.

These are Instagram accounts owned by individuals or brands outside your organization, with whom you may be collaborating, such as a creator or partner brand. The individuals managing these accounts are not part of your contentfry Team.

An Instagram Profile Owned by You

If you're the owner of the Instagram profile you want to connect, you have two options: the simple and easy approach via Instagram Basic, or the more advanced access. Below, you'll find information to help you decide:

1. Instagram Basic

Who is it for:

For everyone! But it's especially beneficial for brands and creators who don't have professional Instagram accounts (such as Instagram Business or Creator Accounts) or haven't linked their Instagram profile to a Facebook Page.

Requirements:

You can connect any Instagram account, including those set to private. All you need to establish the connection are the login credentials of the account.

Good to know:

With Instagram Basic, you'll be able to collect content published on an Instagram profile, including photos, videos, and reels. However, Instagram Stories are not accessible through this connection. If you want to collect stories, you'll need to use a separate connection, which is available in Advanced.

2. Instagram Advanced - Owned Profile

Who is it for:

For Professional Business or Creator Accounts that have their Instagram Profile connected with a Facebook-Page.

Requirements:

The Instagram Account you want to collect content from must be connected to a Facebook-Page and the person setting up the Connection on contentfry must be an Admin of this Facebook-Page (Login via Facebook).

Good to know:

For security reasons, Meta requires re-authorization of access (via tokens) every 3 months. If connections are established through Advanced access, such as hashtags, stories, or the owned profile, re-authorization of the connection is necessary every 3 months. This can be easily done with just one click in contentfry.

💡You have everything required for Advanced Access, but you're unsure whether you should set up your profile using the simple Basic Access instead?

If you only aim to fetch content from your Instagram profile and you don't plan to connect additional features like hashtags or stories, we recommend using Instagram Basic. Unlike the Owned Profile in Advanced, Instagram Basic does not require re-authorization of the connection every 3 months.

A Profile Owned by an external Person or Brand

If you want to connect an Instagram Profile from an owner outside your organisation, you again have two options:

3. Creator or Collaborator Profile

Who is it for:

For Instagram accounts whose owner is external to your organization but with whom you have an affiliation. For instance, if you're a sports club, this could include your athletes.

Requirements:

The owner of the account will need to connect their Instagram account through an external interface, which you'll provide to them via a link.

Good to know:

You can display content from any Instagram profile, even if it's set to private. Additionally, the individual or brand you're collaborating with doesn't need to have a professional Instagram account (Business or Creator Account).

4. Public Profile

Who is it for:

For professional and public Instagram accounts.

Requirements:

Public Profile Connections are established through Advanced access, requiring you to have a Business Setup (a Facebook Page connected with an Instagram Account).

Good to know:

The Instagram profile you want to connect must be a Professional Account (Business or Creator). If you're displaying content from a public profile of an individual or brand on your social wall, we strongly recommend obtaining their consent beforehand.
